Sammy is a 10 year old terrier cross; she never had any problems regarding her health until she was brought to us recently because she had trouble urinating and the owner saw some small amounts of urine in her urine. We examined her and could clearly palpate something in her bladder; we assumed these to be stones and proceeded to perform surgery on her to remove these stones. We found quite a collection. Sammy suffered a bacterial infection; it was these bacteria that excrete as a metabolic waste product precursors for these stones. We successfully removed the stones and controlled the infection. Today Sammy is a happy terrier again with a future that looks to have no more stones in sight.
